The MOCIUN team spends a great amount of time with clients to select or design the perfect ring for their potential engagement. We absolutely love to get to know each of our clients and their partners throughout the process but we especially love when our MOCIUN clients share their special proposal stories with us! Read more to learn more about Jacques’ special and astounding proposal to Eleanor.
As written by Jacques..
“So as you know I was planning to propose next week on Nov 1st, but when I saw that ring I knew I wasn‘t going to be able to wait that long. My brother, his roommate and I just stared at it in awe for like 20 minutes. I had told Eleanor I was arriving tomorrow (today), I kept the lie alive by sending her a good morning text at 5pm* and then calling her 20 minutes before she got home to tell her that I was on my way to the airport and would see her in 13 hours or so. Surprise #1.
I tried to be romantic and lit a bunch of candles and got two glasses of wine ready. I thought Eleanor would come in and put it all together and be really happy to see me. I couldn‘t have been more wrong. The only words I can use to describe her reaction is “completely terrified!“ She completely freaked out, thinking someone was there to murder her, she started screaming at the top of her lungs. Throwing her dinner into the air, dropping her bags, falling backward into the wall, knocking the pictures off as she slid down it collapsing in fear. Worst of all, as she fell she smacked her left hand against a stair cracking the nail on the index finger in half. At this point, I am pretty worried I totally ruined the moment. After I got her bandaged up we sat down and did my best to calm the situation down with a few large glasses of rose.
Because she was so caught off guard and still completely in shock, Eleanor repeated, “Why are you here?!“ “How?!“. I did my best to move onto surprise #2; a few knickknacks I picked up in Japan. After a few minutes, I “remembered“ I had one more gift upstairs and went to retrieve it from my bag. My dad suggested I hide the ring in something Eleanor would not expect it to be hidden in. I chose a Bento box that looked like a little Geisha for surprise #3. At the pace I was delivering my surprises, I knew she was perpetually thrown and completely unable to see what I had coming next. As I digressed and professed my love for her heart, mind, and soul, I watched a night that started off as a near disaster turn into the most memorable night of my life as a smile crept across her face and tears ran down her cheeks.”
